Presumed Plan

March 27, 2019by Nike Adigun0

I was only 28 when it dawned on me that I don’t have any excuse to give my family for not getting married. As this was the norm.

Truth be told, I honestly had given up on the topic and idea of marriage as I didn’t really have a good example from my parents. So, I was not looking forward to it.

Here I was 3 months after that thought working at LB School, making a good sum to take home every month wondering what I wanted to do with myself in marriage.

I decided as “God pikin” to ask Him how far.

Well, answers came in quickly, suddenly my eyes and ears were opened at every gathering and event. All characteristics of men began to say hello. What a Wahwhu!

My dress sense topped its game. I started adjusting in character and everything.

One day, I had to sit down and take a look at the characteristics that I’ll like in a man spiritually, emotionally and physically.

After about a month of through and through, I had a comprehensive list.

Side advice; never write a list before going to God. Go to God first and let him reveal the man to you.

In God’s mercy, my prayer was answered however there was a comma. Can I shock you?

Yes…… I know you’re not thinking about it because, I also, didn’t remember. Let me tell you so that your headache can stop. When I went back to God, he said next time, do not give me a list. Let me be sovereign. Yup, you got it, I never went back to God with a “presumed” plan on any matter. I simply let Him show me what He wants.

I was, and am still older than him with two years but guess what? He was everything I wanted and more. He is a very intelligent and smart person there is nothing you want to talk about that my husband does not know about, he reads beyond the present news. He goes way back to history to know the full story on a matter.

At the time, I earned more than him but guess what he provided everything I needed with his salary. Fast forward to today, he earns seven times what I earn in a year.

We’ve had our differences but if there’s anything I’ve learnt in our marriage it’s that, there is a God who derives joy in solving issues. Never take on a situation by yourself. You don’t know the full story.
